Since launching in 2011, HoopAsylum has become one of the nation’s most established UK basketball media platforms by creating unique, compelling, engaging videos and content.
Always with basketball fans in mind, HoopAsylum aims to raise awareness of the sport in the UK and serve as a unique channel for content and entertainment.
HoopAsylum was officially launched on Oct. 7, 2011. After producing a number of basketball-related journalism projects for the University of Derby, a website was built to store the various content online. As time went on and more content was created, the site continued to develop: transforming from a personal database into a publicly accessible basketball website, designed to offer hoops fans around the world fresh and exciting news, videos and content.
As well as the NBA, HoopAsylum covers the world of basketball from all angles, including British basketball, college basketball, sneakers, culture, and more. HoopAsylum features unique articles written by passionate hoops journalists who love the game, expressing their thoughts and sharing information with fellow basketball fans around the globe.
My name is Lewis Rose and I am the founder HoopAsylum. Growing up in rural England, finding people who were just as passionate about basketball as myself was often very difficult. During my years spent playing for my secondary school’s team and shooting hoops after school, I decided that my future was in media and I still wanted the sport of basketball to be a major part of it.
In order to help develop my journalistic and web-based skills, I launched a basketball website, where I could share information and meet people who shared the same interests as me. Since my earliest content, I have been given the chance to interact with basketball fans from all around the world.
Meeting new people who share the same passion as me gives me the motivation to continue building this website and adding content for people to enjoy.
