The 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft flirted with a quadruple-double, racking up 22 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds and nine steals—an NBA record for a player’s debut. His nine swipes also match the most steals recorded during single game in Sixers franchise history.
Allen Iverson, whose number was retired the same night at the Wells Fargo Center, is the only other player in Sixers history to have nine steals twice–Maurice Cheeks and Hersey Hawkins also recorded nine steals in their respective careers whilst wearing a Sixers uniform.
Carter-Williams has certainly let his presence be known and grabbed the attention of basketball fans around the globe in one of the most compelling rookie debuts in recent memory.
Will he continue his high level of play throughout the season and have a shot of winning Rookie of the Year?
